چکیده
The varied toxicity of Urginea maritima (a plant that grows in north Sinai) on Wistar albino rats was investigated. Twenty-four weighing 100±20 gm. were divided into 4 groups, the first group, which included six male rats, and second female given di-methyl sulfoxide orally for 45 consecutive days regarded as control groups. third group who received 36 mg/kg B.W (1/20 LD50 from alcoholic extract maritima) succession. fourth made up a daily dose 26 extract) successive days. Serum samples taken biochemical study after end experiment, sciatic nerve, heart, brain tissues also histopathological analysis. findings demonstrated significant changes exposed animals' serum levels calcium (Ca++), sodium (Na+), potassium (K+) ions. While K+ dramatically increased, Ca++ Na+ significantly dropped. Lactic acid dehydrogenase (LDH) creatine kinase (CK-MB) activities increased. In addition, pathological alterations brain, nerve discovered when compared to

Evaluation of Toxicological Profile of Ibuprofen in Wistar Albino Rats
Ibuprofen is an effective, cheap, and frequently used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The present study investigated the doseand time-dependent effects of ibuprofen on hepatic, renal, and hematological functions in rats. Groups of rats (n=6) were given ibuprofen (20, 40 mgkg -1 day -1 ) for 7, 14 or 28 days; or vehicle (control), orally. Blood samples were obtained, and hematological indi...
متن کاملBiosynthesis of the bufadienolide ring of scillirosid in Scilla maritima.
Administration of sodium [1,2-14C2]oxaloacetate and sodium [1-14C]acetate to Scilla maritima plants yielded labelled scillirosid. A systematic degradation of scillirosid indicated that the alpha-pyrone ring of the bufadienolide is formed by the condensation of a pregnane derivative (derived from mevalonic acid via squalene) and one molecule of oxaloacetic acid.

The subject handled in this study is the determination of antioxidant activities of extracts obtained from the Urginea maritima (L.) Baker plant’s leaves and tubers. Extractions which were obtained using various solvents as methanol, ethanol, acetone and benzine. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was determined using β-karotene-linoleic acid system. Moreover, the free radica...
متن کاملAnti-insect Activity of Bufadienolides from Urginea maritima
Squill [Urginea maritima (L.) Baker, Liliaceae] is a native medicinal and ornamental plant from the Mediterranean area. The bulbs were an ancient source of rodenticide products replaced later on by warfarin and modern anticoagulant raticides. Since rats have developed resistance to such products there is now renewed interest in the species. In the 1950s, attempts were made in the United States ...
